About St Mary's Armenian Church Social Support Group
The Armenian Social Support Group has been providing support to the local Armenian community since 1996.
It is a place where you can keep active, explore your interests, make and maintain friendships.
It provides a valuable break for carers and to support their ability to remain living at home whilst also maintaining confidence and independence.
The Social Support Groups provide community based group programs and is funded jointly by the Australian Government’s Commonwealth & Home Support Program (CHSP) and the Victorian Home and Community Care (HACC) services.

Program features
Programs are organised according to the interests and abilities of the people taking part and provide fun and engaging activities and provide opportunities to socialise with one another in a supportive environment. This may include morning tea and lunch, gentle exercises, information sessions, guest speakers, birthdays, and celebrations (religious days), games, day outings.

The Australian Government funds and manages services for older people (over 65 years of age) through the Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP). If you are 65 years and over, socially isolated and are not an existing client, living in the Eastern and Southern Eastern Metropolitan Region of Melbourne, you must register as a “My Aged Care” user before you can access programs and services. “My Aged Care” is the main entry point to the aged care system for new clients. It helps older people, their families, and carers to access information on aged care, have their needs assessed and be supported to find and access services.
To join the Social Support Group gatherings, visit the My Aged Care website – www.myagedcare.gov.au or call 1800 200 422 and ask to be referred to St Mary’s Armenian Church-Social Support Group, Surrey Hills Victoria. Services for people aged under 65 is funded and managed by the Victorian Home and Community Care Program (HACC).
A small fee is charged for attendance, which includes nutritious meals and all activities. Excursion varies according to the trip (costs details will be provided prior to the outing).
